When we got our Peloton bike last year, the biggest decision point was about where it would live and how we could create a space for it where we’d actually want to be. The goal: let’s not let this become a clothes tree.
I was hesitant to give up my whole studio and crafting space. But I was also hesitant about hiding the bike in our basement where my husband keeps his man cave. We have different ideas of “inviting spaces” and I just couldn’t see myself trudging down to his space to workout (or if I got myself down there, actually enjoying it).
We settled on using my art space, and I changed my mindset. Instead of “losing” my studio, I was adding even more motivation, comfort, and inspiration to a space I already enjoyed. I use my Peloton for cycling and strength classes multiple times a week, and also enjoy their yoga and meditation classes. This gave me the idea to add some peaceful elements when I was designing my new space. The plants keep the space fresh, and the mood lighting is used when I’m not grinding out a fat burning workout. The shelves with my supplies are from Ikea, and I hid accessories and our cycling shoes in the boxes so it looks organized, but all of our stuff is readily accessible.
Since revamping this space and my mindset, I’m more motivated to spend time in this room; for both physical and creative self-care.
